Listen to real people
tell it like it is...

Every quit has a story. Listen to people in our region share theirs about taking that big first step. You'll see how some are dealing with their daily struggle to quit, and learn how others have overcome their challenges, set their quit date and achieved their dream to live smoke free!

Meet John John Sandstrom - Smoking used to be a community thing, but not anymore. Nicotine is a poison. The way I see it, once you're off of it you are no longer poising yourself. And remember, it usually takes more than once to quit, so don't get upset if it doesn't work the first time!

Meet Erica Erica Bustamante - I wouldn't say my situation is unique because I know most smokers have a lot in common. Many of us don't know why we started smoking - we just know that quitting is tough. I am quitting not only for myself, but also for my boyfriend and even more so for my mother. I am not a slave to the pack and I will prove that I have the will power to beat a little cigarette. My name is Erica and by Christmas 2010 I will live outside the pack!

Meet Denise

Denise Rider - I want to quit smoking for my grandson because the worst thing that could happen is for him to think smoking is OK. You can go cold turkey just don't try to do it alone!

Meet Hector Hector Mattos - A diagnosis of high blood pressure made me realize that I have to take care of myself. After all, I'm still young! After a while, smoking became an inconvenience. Gradually - after a doctor visit and a lot of will power - I finally quit! I realized one thing in the process... You need the drive and desire to quit. If there is no will, there is no way! My goals are to be fit and smoke free for the rest of my life!
